I used httperf
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/David_Mosberger/httperf.html
This is my setup
Client machine: Dual PII/300 with 256 MB RAM (FreeBSD 3.2-stable)
Web Server: PII-4000/128MB RAM (Linux 2.2.5)
Database Server: Dual PII-450/256MB/ (FreeBSD 3.2-stable)
Mysql 3.22.23
Please note that the Web server is also my development machine and was
running X/Netscape/XEmacs at the time
All three machines connected via 100 Mbp/s switch
150 connections at the rate of 25 connections
PHP3 41 secs (Max load on Webserver 20)
PHP4 18 secs Max load 8
Perl CGI 61 secs Max load 60
mod_perl was compiled into the server
