Is it my rusty memory, or is this contradictive with previous statements?
Zeev, 1999-05-23:
"For those of you who have looked at the mandelbrot generator when the site
was still running PHP 3.0, you might want to take a look at it now. You'd
find it a bit faster (it's still just a P100, and it's still not running
the optimizer, so you'd still notice it takes some time to run, but it's
quite a few times quicker than PHP 3.0)"
Zeev, 1999-01-09:
"The optimizing compiler makes this code scream even more, but
frankly, unless you have a real busy site, you don't need it."
So, what'll it be? Faster, or not?
