Has anyone tried compiling PHP with GNU MingW32? It is a version of the GNU
C/C++ tools which links to the C/C++ runtime built into Windows. (Unlike
GNU CygWin32 which links to a Unix emulator library on Windows. And,
segfaults more often than not.) I would be curious to know if PHP compiles
at all with it. I prefer MSVC to anything on Windows. It is extremely
nice, however, somewhat prohibitively priced for low budget folks. I am
extremely fortunate to have MSVC 5, I kind'a fell into that deal.
According to what little I have read, MingW32 has all of the common GNU
C/C++ tools and produces output as stable as MSVC. It doesn't compile
GNUish code, it requires the same porting as MSVC. It is designed to be a
cheap MSVC-like Windows compiler. I've not tried to compile any code at all
with it. I just haven't taken the time to setup the appropriate environment
variables and whatnot.
