I actually like this about PHP. In fact, this sort of approach is what
appeals to me about the language: simple, straightfowards ways of
accomplishing tasks. It seems to me that this is why you can accompilish so
much in so few lines of code with PHP. Not to mention the learning curve is
much more friendly.
By contrast, you have to jump through all kinds of hoops in Perl (various
modules, etc.) just to get basic web functionality, which drives me
absolutely bezerk. There's no reason things need to be that complex. I'd
become pretty frustrated with PHP if it just became another Perl in this
regard.
There's enough words in the english language. Keep them in the same
namespace. :)
