I just want to say that I don't think I agree with the goal for B4 being full thread safety. Full thread safety may take ages to achieve, and isn't something we should necessarily commit for in PHP 4.0. I think PHP 4.0 should rate the thread-safety mode as experimental, much like Apache did with 1.x. We can fully support thread safety in 4.1. The release time frame for 4.0 is getting awfully close, I wouldn't want to wait until we have every last bit of PHP 4.0 verified to be thread safe before we tag it as the final release.
