Sascha-
I was just about to do what you'd requested here, but decided it might be a good idea to the the latest "php4-latest", just in case it'd been fixed already. At any rate, I configured with this configure line:
./configure --with-track-vars --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/usr/local --with-gdbm --without-gd --with-snmp --enable-ucd-snmp-hack
And everything appears to have compiled perfectly, so I guess the problem has been fixed.
Hope this helps,

It appears that the PHP3_MAX_SALT_LENGTH is not getting defined properly... I'm assuming because PHP3_EXT_DES_CRYPT is not getting defined by the "configure" script. (I'm assuming its suppose to be PHP3_EXT_DES_CRYPT, since FBSD crypt uses a 9 char salt.)Please look into config.log and search for "for standard DES". You probably will see some link editor/compiler error messages. Post these as well as the executed command and your configure line.--Regards,Sascha Schumann ConsultantI
