Have you checked the permissions on data.txt? I'm guessing your server doesn't have permissions to read that file in Win2k. Win98 has no file security whatsoever. What server are you using? I know IIS uses the IUSR_computername account or something similar, while Apache uses what ever it is defined in the services control panel (I should know this better...
