I had tried the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID ones, but I had set them to the
normal ORACLE_HOME of "X:\ORANT8", etc. Didn't try pathing all the way out
to the tnsnames file. Is that the way it's SUPPOSED to work? Also, hadn't
tried the ORACLE_BASE setting.
Unfortunately, I'm finding now that my Oracle 8 installation, while valid (I
can open databases in SQLPlus, connect to it with Access, etc.), is not
accessible for me to modify, and the database I'm working on is only defined
in the Oracle 7 installation's tnsnames (x:\orant\), not Oracle 8's. Short
of putting the full descriptor text in my connection call, I may be out of
luck on that one.
So, I figured I'd backtrack a bit, and try to get php_oracle.dll running
with Oracle 7... BUT the php4.0.2dev (8/1) didn't include the oracle 7 dll
(only oracle 8). Do you have a php_oracle.dll for the 8/1 build of
4.0.2dev?
Also, this DOES seem to have more than the putenv environment strings
involved. One of the oddities which I was experiencing was that while I
could get php to connect via command line to oracle 8 on the network (with
full descriptor text, mind you :)), as soon as I tried to run the same
script (w/ php as cgi in apache), it could no longer locate the oci.dll (and
related files). Why would php running at command line be able to find the
dlls (network oracle bin directories in the path), but not php running w/in
apache (where the network drive/path doesn't show up in apache's path
environment setting)... does php look to DIFFERENT path settings at the
command line vs. within apache? And why doesn't apache include the network
drive/directories in it's path environment anyway?
Guess I've got more questions than answers at the moment...
