This is the code that works on my machine: Win98 / Apache / PHP4.02-Dev-> Word office 2000 <?php $word = new COM("word.application") or die("Unable to instantiate Word"); print "Loaded Word, version {$word->Version}<BR>"; $word->Visible = 1; $word->Documents->Add(); $word->Selection->TypeText("This is a test..."); $word->Documents[1]->SaveAs("Useless test.doc"); $word->Quit(); Comment if you want to see the word document, then close word manually ?> Note that the COM functionality is included in the binaries source, ie nothing shows as extension in php.ini.
