Hi Andy.
Thanks for the response you have helped me along the way a lot.
>First, where did you get the php_oci8.dll version you are using... one
thing you
HAVE to remember with extensions and PHP, you can't just use the same
extensions
from version to version. Example, if you try to use a php_oci8.dll compiled
for
4.0.0 with an installed php4.0.1pl2, errors will occur.<
Correct. I had indeed downloaded the dll from another location. So I got the
whole batch from the php4win site.
Problem is that the ora / oci function are not recognized. It does not care
where I put them and to what extension directory it is pointed. I have set
the rights to all dll's. But no response whathowever. I have stopped
researching this option due to a deadline coming and the host of problems
people appear to have with the native Oracle connections through php in
general.
So I began to look into ODBC.
When I tried to use the ODBC option I found that the TNS name cannot be
resolved. Even though any other app I use with the this ODBC link works
fine. (And yes it is an system DNS, local does not work on IIS :) )
ODBC links to Access and SQLServer 2000 against php work flawlessly..
It would appear this is a security issue. For some reason the ODBC link
called from the php.exe has no access to the Oracle TNS service.
Is there anyone who has the same experiences here?
I begin to suspect I might be better off to build Oracle access components
in COM and call these from php. But there is off course a performance and
time penalty for that. (Also the matter that I could work with ASP for all
that matter because in such case php has no gain over ASP)
