Hi,
I have never had any problems with PHP4 and Win98. However I did the
following two things:
* I never used the installer (there was a thread about that some days ago)
* I never used the .reg file.
Just unzip the archive to (e.g.) c:\php4, add a registry key "ScriptMap"
under
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W3SVC\Parameters] and
provide ".php" and "c:\php4\php.exe %s %s". Then create a virtual directory,
give it script permission and put your php files into there.
Regards
Christian

I'm also looking for some help with a WIN98 install...
I have just recently tried to install PHP4 for Win98 PWS. I tried the "self
installer" , but it didn't look like all the DLL's were there (or being
copied into the windows directory) so I switched to the full version. There
were problems with that install also.
The ".reg" file that needs to be applied to the Win98 registry is not there.
I found a copy in the zip file from a previous release.
It looks like the directory structure of the new release has been expanded
with some subdirectories. In particular, all of the extension DLLs are now
located in an "extensions" directory and the PHP module for PWS is now
located in an "sapi" directory. Corrections to the php.ini file need to be
made to reflect these changes. All this being said, I still get a http 500
(web server) error when trying to bring up a simple <?php phpinfo(); ?>
script. My syntax may be off here, but it's correct at home.
Any additional help would be appreciated...
