Yes. --with xsl is still under development, so there currently is only a
limited set of functionality.
--with-xsl does not work with the old DOM extension. I currently works with
the new dom and simplexml only (returning a domDocument upon
transformation).

The new dom extension is not BC. It goes by (including naming conventions of
methods) the W3 specs
(http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-DOM-Level-3-Core-20021022/core.html). I am
going to try to get a small doc or tuturial together this week. To create a
new document, the easiest way is to just call:
$mydoc = new domDocument();
See the /samples and /tests directory in the dom directory. They include a
bunch of functionality including catching exceptions, which are thrown for
certain conditions (throws domException)

You cant have both loaded at the same time.
