Well it's better to roll back this patch then and find a real fix.
From my point of view: No it's not. The real problem requires a rewrite of the whole ini facility and maybe parts of the memory manager. Since i don't see someone doing this the patch offers at least a fix for CLI/CGI. Also i am currently not able to debug PHP5 in a threaded webserver environment due to limited time i can spend on PHP development. Sorry for this and feel free to revert the patch if you still think it is the better way.
Zeev and I try to adhere to a rule that we try not to do voodoo fixes. Such fixes tend to pop up again later. It's better to keep a crash around so that it reminds you to fix it thoroughly then to fix it, think it's gone away and then get bitten later on. I think the person to revert the patch is you and I'd appreciate if you do so. We can then discuss what's happening to you and how we can fix it. Discussion would probably find a true solution and not some voodoo solution. Andi
