Hi Christian,
it works even on SuSE 6.2 though it needs some manual correction.
On my system I had to make a link form /usr/share/sgml/CATALOG
to /usr/share/sgml/CATALOG.docbk30
Futher you have to modify /usr/share/sgml/docbk30/docbook.dcl
change 'OMITTAG NO' to 'OMITTAG YES'
and
change 'NAMELEN 44' to e.g. 'NAMELEN 54'
