I just did the following:
rm -rf php4 libzend TSRM
tar xzf php4-199912171603.tar.gz
cd php4
./buildconf
autoconf
automake
./configure
make
I now get:
make all-recursive
make[1]: Entering directory `/home/rubys/php4'
Making all in libzend
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/rubys/libzend'
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `../config.status', needed by
`Makefile'. Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/rubys/libzend'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/rubys/php4'
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
This worked with php4-199912160945.tar.gz.
P.S. I am still able to build just fine on Windows.
