Well said! Imagine that you have developed a warehouse system running on a
big AS/400 with SOAP interface that let me feed it with data. I have
developed a system with a GPS that contact your system when the truck driver
is 20 km from the warehouse. Your system will be alerted and can prepare
where to set all the new good stuff... This is done using XML and HTTP. I
don't need to do anything extra since almost all development languages have
them. Neither do you. If you use Oracle, Delphi, Unix or something else
doesn't make any difference to me. I really like SOAP and will embrace it to
full extent. Just remember that SOAP may take 1 - 2 years to be fully
matured and just like any other technology it should be used where it fits
its purpose. I believe that Corba will keep on living for its purpose just
like COM has its.
