BTW, this would break some scripts too, because <?echo "blah"; ?> is now a
valid expression. Also, <?xml_parse($foo)?> is a valid expression too. So
I fear the WTF factor will still be not so low.
Generally, I still wonder about all the fuss on this. You have behaviour
on PHP that is 100% XML compatible. You have simple well-documented option
to use this behaviour. And somebody is trying to make me believe that
people who are able to install PHP from source, compile it, write programs
in it and understand XML and SGML and all that stuff are *unable to turn
on this option*? Sorry, you failed. I don't believe. I do not see wht
*any* change is necessary. It just works this way, why do you want to fix
something that is not broken? To "educate" people that never asked you to
do this? I guess this people would be pretty furious on that unasked
education. I, personally, when want to be educated, enlist to some
university course or go to one of various colleges or training companies.
Wen I buy software, I expect it to be useful, not educating.
