I think it's a good thing because it pretty much forces people to be aware of binary safety. We have done a great job in PHP up to now when it comes to binary safety and I wouldn't want this to change.zend_parse_parameters does a great job of reducing the "tedium" and clutter of declaring a php function, so I should just be grateful and keep my mouth shut :):) I think for 4.0.8 we could change lots of places to use zend_parse_parameters(). It definitely improves parameter handling. Andi
