And it looked like Rasmus and etc also agreed at the time (just a couple of days ago here in php-dev). In either case, changing this syntax would kill a _lot_ of scripts. It would be nice to give a lot of notice before stopping the support on it. It's nice to know though - I will not use this anymore.
