You can fetch the current source for testing at: ftp://ftp.freetype.org/pub/freetype/devel/freetype2-current.tar.gz I will begin looking at implementing the new freetype2 API in PHP when the Freetype fellows get their first release out (= when it's pretty sure that the API is stable). This, btw, will have some implications like whether or not maintaining T1Lib support is worthwhile, etc. But the time will come to discuss things like that.
