Ever hear of the ILOVEYOU virus? That was just text. I'd demonstrate but
that wouldn't be very nice.
I think instead of recomending where to put the reply, how about just
having only the relevant information kept in the email.

And by the way HTML emails are ASCII text just like a text email but
with an extra header. They cannot carry viruses any more than a
standard web page can, but I am always open minded so if you would like
to disprove me just show me an example. :) -Kevin
