I can recommend PHPEdit - no crash at least for half a year of daily use. http://www.phpedit.net
Hi everybody I've been looking for and trying quite a few php code-editors for quite a while now - still haven't encountered anything really good yet. I've used Homesite 5 for quite some time but it lacks features for editing php scripts in my opinion. Furthermore I've tried Zend Studio which is to slow and non-windows like (Coded in Java perhaps?) and finally I've tried Maguma Studio (v. 1.0.6) which is quite good but the project management feature seems to be faulty. To sum up: I'm looking for an editor with: - Windows interface (using w2k) - it has
- function insight - ability to look up built-in as well as home-made functions and classes (maguma does a good job here!) - it has
- syntax highlighting - very sophisticated, variables inside string, contextual switching
- project management - via plugin (included)
- ability to use built-in webserver og php.exe directly for previewing - I dont use it, but in docs its mentioned (and has a preview button :))
(maguma quite good here!) - ability to syncronize with website using ftp (homesite/dreamweaver quite good) - via project manager plugin
Furthermore it would be nice if the editor supported html, mysql and css as well - but the above mentioned is more important than this!! - all via customizable syntax highliting, and it is able to switch between HTML and PHP according to current context (cursor position)- keyboard macros with predefined variables (%getusername%, %getdatetime%, %getclassname% ....) - type prediction (contextual on ' and ") it takes some time to get used (approx 1 week to me :) ), but then I miss it on linux (in emacs). - customizable commands and plugins written in PHP
Hope to hear what your experiences are!- well supported by discussion forum and mailing list, fast bugfixes, often updates - 4 FREE It has only one bad feature (for me)it's blocking background file checking - it checks whether file has changed and if yes, it offers some actions - but when someone edits remote file (like me) via SSL tunnel it can make things horribly slow. Some alo reports slow editor when editing HUGE files, I cannot confirm it on my PIII 600MHz 512MB RAM it is fast, even while editing some PEAR classes.
