if you have something that works then I wouldn't worry about it. However,
having just learnt XML it does seem to be extremely useful in the long run.
Admittedly this is because everyone is starting to support it but thats
whats really important about it - everyone is supporting it. Flash 5, Cinema
6, and many other packages have native XML support which leads to ways to
transfer information around extremely effectively. I have just done a
project where the same information in 5 languages was required in 3 formats
(web, CD-Rom, print). XML could prove invaluable in this situation.

Always server side, that way HTML is produced which can be backwards
compatible.
