No, i thought SMTP server in php.ini was only used on windows systems Tried to change it to localhost and uncommented it but mail() doesnt seem to behave faster Is there a way php can execute system commands without waiting for any results ? (send the command to the system but continue the execution of the script no matter the result of this command) If i could do a system "mail" command, my script would then run faster.... It could be a DNS issue, though I would expect it to take longer than 15 seconds to time out. You can set the MTA to simply queue the email rather than send it in real-time, but you still need DNS.There will be quite a lot on this in the archives. HTH Chris
