Unfortunately, I can't go this way (or use a presentation program as
someone else suggested).
These people had a static site and now have a dynamic one: they used to
have cdrom dumps and they'll have it. For the time being (we didn't
produce the previous static site), there is no way to talk them out of
the HTML cdrom they used to have.
So I'll just have to find a way to dump out a static HTML version of the
PHP site.
I'll add that after investigating some more with wget it looks like
there's no real way out of there: you get the files correctly dumped,
but then the links are useless. One should perform some
search-and-replace magic to assign matching names to files and in links.
Frankly, I do not know if this is just an over-bloated, patched solution
or a way to go.
The matter is non-trivial, as someone pointed out.
I'll search around on the net for some of the PHP libs and snippets
which do HTTP and see if somebody else had at least a glimpse of this
very same problem.
Thanks for now.
