I found this pretty usefule as a comment, and agree to it in several aspects... We currently run a Metasearch engine, and we are running under RedHat 6.2 / PHP / MySQL / Apache. We get MySQL using pretty much all our CPU on several cases, what can be done for this? We have the following machine: Dual PIII 877 1GB RAM 3 36GB SCSI Drives (RAID5) We have purchased Solaris for Intel. Do you guys think it will be more stable? (We get some crashs when some process or another begins to eat up memort or cpu), and in general i believe that the system could be faster.... As for FreeBSD, is that like BSDi? Are you running the free version? Please give me a help if you can.... I had some problems compiling PHP 4.0.3pl1 on the Solaris/Intel, any known problems? Thks... I am sorry this has turned into more of an OS discussion, but it is important since our site runs off 95% Heavyly dynamic pages.... > -----Original Message----- > From: Joe Stump [mailto:joe@earth.care2.com] > Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 4:36 AM > To: php-general@lists.php.net > Subject: [PHP] CF vs PHP Debacle > > > To all who hard code CFM - I'm sorry about my blanket > statement, I was going > off of the relationships I have with about 10 CFM coders who > all give me blank > stares when I ask them how to code something in CFM (usually > a response like > "Well you hit this button, etc"). > > One person said we should "expand our horizons", so to speak, > and use other > platforms.
