Thanks for that, interesting reading. Not very fair with regard to Tools though. There are heaps of text editors out there and that, if you are a good coder, is all you need, no one in their right mind would want to use a proprietary HTML generator anyway, so I think it's inconclusive on that score. As for Backend Connectivity, I have yet to find any other language that even comes close to offering the kind of support and ease that PHP offers for direct connection to your favorite databases. The Cost of developer time will of course depend on the type of employee that you take on to do the job. Our opinion is that PHP is very easy to pick up and create complex scripts with. As for installation, it will of course depend on the platform you are installing on. NT is just so easy but *nix can be a real nightmare for a newbie, but that goes for anything, not just PHP. On the whole, the review isn't too bad, seems unbiased and almost acurate. Cheers for that Andy Woolley M.D. www.databasewatch.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sander Pilon" <sander@3dnews.net> To: <php-general@lists.php.net> Sent: Tuesday, October 31, 2000 4:19 PM Subject: [PHP] ZDNet compares PHP to JSP, ASP & CF (Again, complete this time :) > (Oops, pressed enter too quick...) > > You guys ofcourse read this: > > > http://www.zdnet.com/enterprise/stories/linux/0,12249,2646052,00.html > > PHP got compared to three other weblanguages. > > PHP scored A's in speed and cost, but got its ass kicked in the 'overall' > scores.
