It's not about Virtual machines, it is about the learning curve
of 1) Java, 2) IBM soft and about the fact that you have to know
3 different structures before you can program webapps with JAVA.
You must learn java servlets and how to use them, you must
know JSP, you must know javascript to get a bit of layout.
PHP is in this view very good for rapid webapp development.
You can clearly see PHP is made by people using it, and isn't this
another strength of open source software?
The quality of a good development language is the speed with which
you develop, because whether you like it or not, Time still is Money !!
In this view PHP rocks !! Combine PHP with a good database and java
script and you have a winner team ! My next project is developing
a webapp with the same look and feel of a clientserver app using
extended javascript and using PHP to do the processing and page
content.

LOL! Good! Am I the only one, or are there other people too that
think loading a Java Virtual machine on each page request is a dumb
idea?

I am pleased to see that we have differences. May we together become
greater than the sum of both of us.
