But all these Applications have a special XML Parser, which has to be maintainted. So replacing this with XML would make work much easier. >From: Sebastian Stadtlich <Stadtlich@mediaworx.com> >Forget about XML... it sucks... >right now i can't imagine one Projekt on this earth that would need XML. Well how about storing document any scientific document in a Database. Everything in a Blob? Well then you can not do any formatting. Check out http://www.softwareag.com/xml/applications/freiburg.htm. >don't ever think about replacing your database with XML-Files. >one thing that XML clains to be perfect in is in exchanging data files... >what's wrong with a SQL-Dump or a textfile which structure you know? ( >basically >that is what XML is all about).. Well changing your exchange format will get you into trouble. >Sebastian >p.s: if i'm wrong please someone point me to a projekt that was done in XML >and could >not be done significantly faster with a Database...... http://www.softwareag.com/xml/applications/freiburg.htm It seems to me as if you never really got yourself worked into XML. Once you did this, you see how all the great DOM XML Parsers or even the Event based ones make life so much simpler. It lets the App Developer focus on the primary task: "The Logic". You do not need to focus on technical details such as writing parsers. Also it enables you to provide simple editable Documents to non technical people. > -- Florian Clever fc@clever-soft.com http://www.Clever-Software-Solutions.de/ PGP Key @ ldap://certserver.pgp.net/ Air conditioned environment - Do not open Windows.
