Out of interest why read a 350Mb text file? If you are not using every bit
of data in there maybe you could use a database .... (a 350MB DB is
reasonable).
Comparing PHP3 to Perl i found Perl much faster for large text file
manipulation, but i have checked again fro PHP4.
