FWIW, I have heard about R as well and think that having access to the power
of R library functions in PHP would be quite cool. My vote would be to
look at R first as a possible math library for PHP and if this doesn't pan out
then we could move on to something else. If R's GNU license automatically
rules this out, let me know and I can help look for some other alternatives.
