I'm actually using a table in another application.
Alas, one column has GtkLabel, and the other column has GtkEntry.
By the time I got done trying to align the Labels on the right, and the
Entrys on the left, guess what? The vertical alignment was all wrong.
set_usize() has never had ANY effect I can see, in any combination I've
tried.
set_alignment() can only be done to have the things I need to align, and
when it can be called, alters the alignment I don't want changed -- Though
I may have confused the arguments: usize() uses -1 to imply "don't
change" and alignment() doesn't... So I guess 0.5 would be the default
for set_alignment() to leave things along in the direction I'm happy with?
Oh, and as far as Glade goes, I pretty much ended up in the same spot as I
was. I had all these buttons that did *NOT* look like I wanted, in
exactly the same way I had buttons that did *NOT* look like I wanted from
typing code. Except it took longer to point and click than it did to
type. [shrug]
I sort of "get" packing now.
I just think I don't *WANT* to use packing, and want some kind of "Add" or
"Attach" or "put it in there damnit" function where I can just say exactly
what position and size I want the child.
Yes, I'll be stuck if I want to grow/shrink the windows, maybe, and I'll
have to code it so I can add a button by using fractions to get the
positioning I want if I expect to add buttons, but that would certainly be
better than what I'm doing now.
I'm using VBox/HBox to get alignment I want for this version, but I *KNOW*
I'm going to have to rip those out and change everything around when I add
the other features in with other design elements that go elsewhere in the
screen.
I'd really rather just calculate where I want the Widget to be, and I'll
figure out what calculations need to be done to get it where I want it.
I'll stick with packing for the next iteration or two, and maybe figure
out how to get what I want without ripping out the code every time I
change something...
