It doesn't quite work that way. I'm not sure if I can express it right, but
I'll try. You work with rectangles, and you can tell a rectangle to be as
big as possible, as small as possible (depending on the widget inside) or
to take up a certain percentage of the available space. In other words, you
shrink or enlarge rectangles within the container. Besides this, you also
have a vertical and a horizontal order that the widgets will follow,
depending on how you set them up. You also have empty borders you can set
around the widgets, and then you have certain types of containers which
will help you lay things out.
If you know any HTML, this resembles HTML tables. You can't just
place things wherever you want like in a DTP application, you have these
rectangles or cells which depend on each other and you must juggle with
them respecting the rules.
