Yes, as I said elsewhere, I think 9.0 is a much better time for the full removal, and I hope the RFC will be amended appropriately. However, to reiterate, either is still later than the previous RFC. This RFC removes that danger by amending the 8.0 behaviour to *explicitly detecting the tags* and throwing a ParseError.But only for 8.0. So if you have a bad luck of skipping .0 and going directly for .1 you're still in the same trouble.
