Hello all..
We are about to upgrade all of our servers to redhat 9
but in our tests, we have been unable to run a stable
htdig. I don't know what the problem is, but we have decided
to stop hosting htdig services for our clients, and the
same applies for mx.php.net.
The indexing programs of htdig always fail under RH9 and
even worse, I have gotten our test server frozen several
times when running the indexer.
It seems to me that the htdig proyect is a bit dead. The last
release was on feb '02 and only using the latest cvs I managed
to compile it. Don't get me wrong we have used htdig a lot
and I really like it, but I think time has cought up with it.
Now, I've been looking at the mnogosearch functions and they
seem far more flexible and, better yet, they;re built into php.
Why has nobody considered using mnogo for php.net? Is it unstable?
I think the best of it is that it is not a CGI like htdig.
