Most newsreaders decide on wheter an entry is new, based on the resource link provided. Wherever I put the news item, the resource link will still be the first link in the announcement, which is the phpwest.com address. Therefore I doubt that this helps you in pushing up the news item in readers, and that this justifies that first time in history we break our rule and publish a news item out of the date order.
I was under the impression that it also took into account the <dc:date> tag?
Which would have meant that the news item moved up above the PHP release, which was what I was supposed to disallow.
I didn't mention anything to do with posting it too early. My assertation was based on the fact that the previous post that was listed on the 4th contained entirely different content. Thereafter it was updated maintaining the same date. I was hoping for a new post to be created announcing the speakers but the old post was modified instead which viewers are likely to overlook as though it has not changed as I did.
Well, now I moved the post to be the first. I have not left the old news item, in line with our usual practice.
<a href="http://www.phpwest.com"><img /></a><h1>Seakers Announced for PHP West Conference on Web
Services -
Vancouver (Jan 14)</h1> <p> <span
I have edited the title, since it was way too long, and I guess you are not communicating that you announced the *seakers*. Also fixed John's name.
The date I had within the post was in reference to the date posted within the article. It would be ludacris for me to expect you to update the entry every day. As you mentioned before, the readers are not dumb, I am sure they can conclude that the date posted would be relative to the remaining days of the special. Please remove the count down if you feel that this is a stretch in there mathmatical skills.
If you check out our homepage, you can see that the dates are printed in a font which is not eye-catching to say the least. Similarly, a lot of clients are not displaying dates along the news items.
I was not under the impression that there was a list of things not to do. Is there a list of these guidelines you have which I can follow to submit a post?
Our past news items are the guidelines, there is no specific list. Happy holidays, Gabor Hojtsy
