I think Jim meant that the actual drop-down is rarely used to switch between
mirrors. Once you find your closest mirror, you tend to stick to it ...
unless it's busted, in which case you go to www.php.net :)

Speaking of stuff that would be Neat (tm), how about:
- statistics on each mirror that are collected and analyzed centrally,
so we can see which mirrors are getting what traffic
- some kind of automatic ping, or a proper SNMP script, to see which
mirrors are up, etc.
