See the cvs history for download-php3.php, you can find
some sort of automatic mirror chossing code. This would
be really good to import to downloads.php and try to
stick visitors to use the possibly closest mirror.
It was a plan of mine to port this to downloads.php
but I have no time now to do this sorry.
Also a transparent gz compression for all pages
will be good to (see the stats, the top browsers
have support for this stuff).
