What? Why was this deleted? It's not a bug report (though there is a related one: 38935), it's not a request for help, and it documents behaviour that differs markedly from what appears in the documentation. As a PHP user, reading the docs, it provides information missing in the docs that would have helped me track down a problem.
"If you have an addition or change request, open a Documentation Problem in our bug system, where your idea can be discussed."
It's pathetic: I report a case where PHP's behaviour differs from the docs and it gets marked as bogus, referring me to the docs (which are wrong). Given the "it's not a bug" bogusbotting, I add a note to the docs describing how the behaviour differs from the docs so users have a fighting chance of getting expected behaviour and it gets removed. Are you trying to keep undocumented and unexpected behaviour secret or something? I thought this was supposed to be a community effort?
I agree, it's pathetic. I did also thought this was a community effort.
It's really very simple so I'll speak slowly: the docs say one thing and PHP does something else: there's either a bug in PHP, or an error in the docs.
I'll speak even slower: r e a d t h e g u i d e l i n e s o n h o w t o r e p o r t a d o c b u g. If the docs are _wrong_ don't you think they should be changed? It would help way more people to fix the docs rather then submitting note arguing with the manual. That will only confuse people. And if you can, we would _love_ a patch against phpdoc (since this is community driven effort after all) correcting this issue. (As a side note: how do you like the comments currently on that page? I at least am not going to read them all) We always welcome new members to our team! -Hannes
