Maybe if yould have a quick hack which checks for the PHP_OS or PEAR_OS and
acts accordingly

This might sound stuipid but is there a way to have db types aliases, for
example say if running linux the mssql driver would acctually load and use
the sybase driver. Ok maybe it is a stuipid thought but I thought to share
it.
