I guess you're talking about Inline_C, right?

Right, but there could be a small performance difference during the
actual encrypying... the question is: how small?
My bottom-line: if PHP versions of the alg are feasible (which should
be), I'd prefer to use them. Otherwise, Inline_C could be a solution...
