I think intentionally using Inline_C in a PEAR app is questionable. Inline_C carries with it some security issues, as it allows a user to compile and dl() rather arbitrary code. While in a controlled environment this isn't bad, I would be hesitant to endorse it's usage in an ISP style environment.
