ouldn't only the votes from the "core pear people" count?
For the upcoming voting system on pear.php.net, which I'm building
currently, I've planned the following system:
Generally everybody can vote, but every proposal needs to at least get
five positive votes from people having a pear.php.net account.
So, really, the votes of other people are just cosmetic...
I think thats one of the things to sort out at the meeting - trying to keep the spirit of pear - open to all, at the same time trying to acheive some level of quality ( a wonderfull balancing act :)
I'm sure with enough heads banging together we can sort something out that at least attempts to solve this.
I suspect the reality will be that since pear is beginning to get big enough it could end up with +5 from non-core members, then +2 from core members.
I would love to see sponsors or something in pear - so that you have to get your sponser to approve a stable release - but this all really depends on how us poor pear developers can scale :) - perhaps modeling it on debians package approval process..

Alan
