Eeeew. Can't it be split off onto multiple machines? Hell, I've got a few
machines doing SFA with big net pipes - if someone gives me scripts to run,
I'll be part of a distributed PHP/PEAR documentation effort...

I quite understand the "no pay" aspect - I'm an active Free Software
developer myself. But I've seen multiple references to PEAR as an official
repository of wonderful software, with all these assurances of quality and
whatnot. The actions of the PEAR community do not tally with these
statements. If you can't back up the claims...
