Oops... Sorry... Didn't know that it had passed hands. I think, though, that
we're talking about two different packages.
I know you have HTML_Select_Common (and never intended to take over that),
but I was referring to HTML_Select, developed by Adam Daniel. It was in
php4/pear, but was deleted without comment after he could no longer maintain
it. I've attached the last CVS revision of the file
(php4/pear/HTML/Select.php).
Here's what happened. There was a request for HTML_Page (which had silently
been dropped). I decided to try to take over ownership for that package. So
I wrote to Adam Daniel, and he told me I could take over any unmaintained
packages of his. So I wrote to the list mentioning my intent to do just
that. When I looked at the packages, I thought that HTML_Select had been
moved, because HTML_Select_Common exists, so that HTML_Page would be the
only one of Adam's packages left. However, it was brought to my attention
that HTML_Select in fact hadn't been moved:

Now, if HTML_Select_Common really replaces HTML_Select, I don't mind
dropping it altogether. However, after an admittedly quick glance at the
included files, I came to the conclusion that they are two separate
packages. If this is not so, I really don't care about it. I haven't done
any work to update HTML_Select, so just let me know if it has become
obsolete. Apparently Mika doesn't think so.... I was planning on taking
Bertrand's advice and changing the API to match the quickform select element
syntax.
Btw, Bertrand, if you want to maintain it, it's all yours. You know how it
should act much better than I do, as you already worked it over.
