I agree. Therefore it should be examined if splitting phpdocumentator
into more specialized components is a solution. I guess Pierre's
suggestion is not to much about making phpdocumentor the one size fits
all solution but reusing the technology that is already inside
phpdocumentator to make this a lot easier.

True, however it is also important to keep tools needed to a minimum.
Its probably safe to assume that people writing docs have a running php
version. However its not so safe to assume that they have python, so it
adds yet another tool to the list. The question is if the drawbacks of
this are offset by the work needed to write and maintain our own
implementation.
