Net_ should be used for the protocols. Mail_ should be used for the
storage formats.
The Net_ protocol implementations should only implement network
functionality and return strings containing their results.
The Mail_ implententations should be built to deal with strings (or
files containing those strings) that represent the specific storage
formats.
That way, it would be possible to stream a protocol-based data source
through a storage class (e.g. save an mbox or Maildir file from an
IMAP source).
