To clarify that: We have made some big mistakes concerning template
engines in the past. When the rush began, we missed the chance to come
down to a common API for all engines and we didn't really object when
people introduced new engines with different APIs.
Over the time we have learned from this and we have realized that it
isn't a good thing to have a bunch of packages all doing essentially the
same. Because of that there are in fact a number of template packages
but at the same time we try to keep the mess as small as possible by not
adding more.
I hope this clarifies the reasons for our "negative" attitude towards
template engines a bit.
