Hi,

One thing I think is very nice is that all values of the WDDX packet are
stored in a property of the object. That means you can open a WDDX packet,
add or change data and serialize it, doing this with the native PHP
functions results in confusing code for people who do not know the WDDX
functions work...
Furthermore I wanted to add access to the comment of the WDDX packet. That
would add two nice features, I think it's worth integrating into PEAR. I'd
be willing to write documentation for it, that can be included in the PEAR
manual...
For all others: What's you optinion on this?
If you missed the package proposal, here's the original post:
I'd like to propose a new package. It's a wrapper for the wddx_*
functions in PHP. The package allows you to add values, that you do not
exist in the current scope, which normally makes using WDDX in PHP
painful.
The current version is just the basic implementation, you can create a
new package, add values and then serialize it. Of course you can also
unserialize a string. Future versions will include:
- static method call to serialize only one value
- unserialize from a resource or file
- extract the comment of a WDDX packet
You can view the source at:
http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_WDDX/WDDX.phps
And a added a tiny example of the usage at:
http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_WDDX/examples/serialize.php
http://www.php-tools.de/PEAR/XML_WDDX/examples/serialize.phps
I think PEAR needs a WDDX package and there has to be some OO interface
to the strange WDDX_* functions, hope you think the same.
