this would be a solution, but i wouldn't recommend this, because: "The extension needs a copy of the simplified magic file that is distributed with the Apache httpd." (from http://www.php.net/manual/en/ref.mime-magic.php) it only uses a simple magic-file, while the class uses globbing at first and the normal (not the simple) magic-file afterwards. so it should be superiour to the php-function in any way! stephan
